JOB DESCRIPTION

The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is seeking a Laboratory Technician specialized in robotics and LIMS systems to support laboratory automation processes to work within a dynamic and technologically advanced laboratory environment in the GCAT|Genomes for Life team.

The position involves working with advanced robotic platforms, particularly TECAN systems (Freedom EVO 150) and Starlims LIMS, ensuring efficient workflow execution and data management.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate and maintain TECAN Freedom EVO 150 robotic systems.
  • Manage and update workflows in Starlims LIMS.
  • Support and learn automation of laboratory processes and protocols.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to robotics and data systems.
  • Ensure proper documentation and traceability of samples.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCIE

  • High vocational training (FP2) in Laboratory Sciences, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, or related fields.
  • Experience with laboratory robotics, especially TECAN Freedom EVO 150 systems.
  • Knowledge of Starlims (LIMS) laboratory information management systems.
  • Understanding of automated laboratory workflows and sample processing.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving mindset.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • High hands-on experience working with laboratory robotics and LIMS systems.
  • Proven experience operating TECAN platforms and managing automated protocols.
  • Ability to adapt to a highly technical and research-oriented environment.
  • Fluent in Spanish or Catalan, and fluent in English.
  • Availability to work 3 hours per week in the afternoon (after 17:00), split across two days per week.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Indefinite contract (Science Law 17/2022).
  • Part-time contract (3 hours per week in the afternoon (after 17:00), split across two days per week).
  • Date of incorporation: Immediate.
  • Gross annual remuneration inherent to the square objected to this call, will be fixed based on the experience provided and the skills of the candidate, distributed in 12 payments.
  • Flexible payment (childminding vouchers).
  • 23 days holiday and 5 days for personal matters.

The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is a public research centre located in Badalona. Its main objective is to increase scientific knowledge in order to transform it into solutions to improve the health and medical care of patients and the community.

The Institute is associated with one of the major university hospitals in the Barcelona area, the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, and is part of the Can Ruti biomedical campus. IGTP is a CERCA centre and is also accredited as a centre of excellence by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) and is in charge of coordinating the management and scientific strategy of the campus, working in close collaboration with the other centres.
