The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is seeking to incorporate a Research Technician to work on the project ‘Validation of liquid and imaging biomarkers for the diagnosis of prodromal dementia with Lewy bodies.’ PMP22/00100, Carlos III Health Institute, within the Genomics and Transcriptomics of Synucleinopathies (GTS) group, which focuses on the molecular characterization of Lewy body diseases. This project has significant social impact, especially for patients and their families. 

The Research Technician will participate in a Research Project in Personalized and Precision Medicine funded to develop diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for Lewy body disorders in early stages, in the development of diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for Lewy body disorders and in the validation of the diagnostic potential of a miRNA-based signature and the prognostic power of RNA transcripts for dementia with Lewy bodies.
 
This entirely translational research project aims to offer solutions for patients, clinicians, and the development of therapeutic strategies. The successful accomplishment of the validation studies will be essential for the creation of a spin-off company.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sample obtaining and processing. 
  • Participate in updating and maintaining laboratory databases.
  • Laboratory management (availability and readiness of laboratory materials and reagents).

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCIE

  • Higher Level Vocational Training (FP2) with training in the field of molecular biology and/or biomedicine.
  • Working experience of at least 12 months.
  • Experience in sample handling and processing.
  • Advanced knowledge Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge in databases (good knowledge of excel required).
  • To be able to work independently and take initiative.
  • Take an active part of the team.
  • Be accurate and have a strong feeling of responsibility. 
  • Be perseverant and have a strong ambition to learn.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Temporary contract linked to the project “Validation of liquid and imaging biomarkers for the diagnosis of prodromal dementia with Lewy bodies.” until June 2026. The contract is formalized through the granting of subsidies under the Resolution of the Directorate of the Carlos III Health Institute, O.A., M.P., whereby subsidies are awarded for Precision Personalized Medicine Research Projects within the Strategic Action in Health 2021–2023, under the PERTE for Vanguard Health, and funded by the European funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. File reference code PMP22/00100.
  • Full-time contract.
  • Gross annual remuneration inherent in the position covered by this call, will be set according to the amount awarded for the grant awarded, distributed in 12 payments.

The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is a public research centre located in Badalona. Its main objective is to increase scientific knowledge in order to transform it into solutions to improve the health and medical care of patients and the community.
